[Details About HP Spectre X360 13]

The HP Spectre X360 13 gives Psychology students a portable device equipped with a premium screen, keyboard, and touchpad. but the battery does not last the entire day and better hardware specs can be found at a similar price. Covered in an aluminum chassis, the HP Spectre X360 looks refined with its sharp gem-cut style edges. It is very lightweight and thin, but it is still sturdy and durable. Having survived hour-tested drops and scratches.

When you open up this laptop you will find a 13.3-inch 4k OLED touchscreen display. It has thin side bezels and nearly perfect color accuracy. The brightness is also great for indoor and outdoor use, but what is most impressive is its 360-degree turning hinge which can quickly convert the laptop into a tablet.

Below that is an edge-to-edge keyboard with large well-spaced backlit keys. We found typing to be a very comfortable and snappy experience. The touchpad is also decently sized and smooth to use. Even within such a compact size, the Spectre X360 manages to provide premium quality throughout without compromise.

Running on a decent intel graphics chip a fantastic Intel i7 11th gen processor, and 16 Gigabytes of RAM the Spectre X360 proves itself as a competent machine. Students can expect Pycharm, Rstudio, and MySQL to run fantastic on the Spectre X360’s 4k resolution. This laptop runs heavy CPU-intensive tasks with ease. Such as heavy writing workloads and online browsing.

You can also expect gaming to run with little issue, but newer aaa titles will no doubt lag to the point of being unplayable. Still, the Spectre X360 promises smooth performance for tasks that are not too demanding. The Spectre X360 offers a lot of premium features but at the cost of a mediocre battery.

Providing 6 hours and 10 minutes of battery life while playing Full HD videos non-stop. Although it only took us 1 hour and 10 minutes to fully charge the battery to 100%. While the battery isn’t the worst if you find yourself without a charger heavy workload will quickly drain the life out of this laptop.

The Spectre X360 has a standard 720p webcam, but it is capable of infrared for Windows Hello face authentication. However, for its thin and lightweight design, its port selection is quite decent. It comes with two USB-C ports, one USB-A port, a MicroSD card reader, and a headphone jack. All USB-C ports are compatible with Thunderbolt 4. So, transfer speeds are fast.

Networking is also up to date with Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 6. Students who want an easy-to-carry laptop with a premium screen, and an extensive selection of ports will appreciate completing psychology work with the Spectre X360, but its battery life and hardware specs aren’t the best for the price that you pay.

[Pros & Cons]

Pros:

  • Very light & portable design.
  • Beautiful 4K OLED display.
  • Diverse port selection.

Cons:

  • Expensive for given hardware specs.
  • Not at all-day battery life.

[Details About HP Envy 13]

The HP Envy 13 gives Psychology students a balance between sleek design, long-lasting battery, and a diverse selection of ports all at a good price, but this comes at the cost of a plastic touchpad and some keyboard flex. Covered in a metal chassis with a sandblasted anodized silver finish. The HP Envy 13 is sharp with an angular body and sturdy with a rigid build.

Yet its lightweight and a compact design keep it highly portable. When opening up this laptop you can find a 13.3-inch 1080p IPS touchscreen display. It has thin side bezels and its color coverage is quite extensive. The screen brightness is decent enough, but you may find it to be a bit dim in outdoor settings.
Unfortunately, the biggest flaw of Envy is its keyboard build. It has a noticeable flex on the keyboard which can make it feel cheap. Apart from that, the backlit keys are well spaced, and we found typing to be a quiet and pleasantly tactile experience. Another drawback to note is its plastic touchpad. which does not have the luxuriously smooth feel of a glass material. Nevertheless, it works well and we encountered almost no issues with it.
Running on a decent Intel graphics chip, a fantastic Intel i7 11th gen processor, and 16 Gigabytes of RAM, the Envy can certainly hold its own against most tasks. Students can expect Pycharm, Rstudio, and MySQL to run smoothly at the end V13S 1080p resolution.
This laptop works through CPU-intensive tasks well. Such as heavy writing workloads and online browsing. You can also expect light gaming to run smoothly, but more graphically intensive games will certainly lag. For anything that isn’t graphically intensive, however. The Envy promises a fast experience when most work tasks.
The Envy may be compact and light, but its battery is certainly hefty enough to provide 10 hours and 30 minutes of battery life while playing Full HD videos non-stop. It also took us only 2 hours and 20 minutes to fully charge the battery to 100%. To be fair, it only has to power a small 1080p display, but you nevertheless get almost an entire day’s worth of laptop use.
The Envy is equipped with a 720p webcam, but it is not capable of Windows Hello face authentication. Still, it has a fingerprint reader for an easy sign-in experience. It also comes with a decent selection of ports. Specifically, two USB-A ports, one USB-C port, a Micro SD card reader, and a headphone jack. It’s great to see that the USB-C port is fast with Thunderbolt 4 and that its networking is up to date with Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 6 support.
Students who want a budget option with premium features will enjoy the all-day battery life and the expansive port selection when doing psychology work on the NV13. although, it may not be the best for outdoor use, and its plastic touchpad and keyboard flex may annoy some.

[Pros & Cons]

Pros:

  • Great value for a given price.
  • All-day battery life.
  • Decent selection of ports.

Cons:

  • Dim screen in outdoor settings.
  • Plastic touchpad & keyboard flex.

 [Details About DELL XPS 17]

The DELL XPS 17 gives psychology students an innovative laptop design, fantastic battery, and truly powerful hardware specs. The only real flaw is a lack of diversity in port selection given its high price. Covered in an anodized aluminum chassis, the Dell XPS 17 is no doubt premium with its sharp and precise construction. It is incredibly thin and somewhat heavy, but for a 17-inch laptop, it still feels portable.

Its screen brightness as well is phenomenal in both indoor and outdoor settings. Below that, you can find dell’s signature maglev keyboard that is nested in a soft-touch carbon fiber material. Although it is not a full-size keyboard.

Its touchpad is also massive and with its glass material, we found the touchpad to be very smooth to use. These comfortable and immersive features dell redefines what makes a laptop feel premium with an almost perfect user experience.
Running on a fantastic Nvidia RTX graphics card, an Intel i7 11th gen processor, and up to 32 Gigabytes of RAM, the XPS 17 is not only beautiful but also powerful. Students can expect Pycharm, Rstudio, and MySQL to run amazingly on the XPS 17’s 4k resolution. This laptop runs incredibly demanding CPU-intensive tasks with ease. Such as heavy writing workloads and online browsing. You can also expect gaming on newer AAA titles to be a breeze.
Although you may have to turn the quality down to 2k or 1080p for a lag-free experience at the highest graphics settings. Despite being so thin the XPS manages to pack a heavy punch that will muscle through any graphically intensive work. Even with a 4k display and powerful specs, the XPS 17 manages to squeeze 9 hours and 10 minutes of battery life while playing Full HD videos non-stop.
It also took us 2 hours and 30 minutes to fully charge the battery to 100%. While the battery isn’t the greatest among the premium laptop market. It still delivers a long-lasting experience that will impress almost any user. The XPS 17 has a standard 720p webcam, but it is capable of infrared for Windows Hello face authentication.
